Caesarstone ICON: Luxury Defined by Natural Beauty and Timeless Authenticity

The world of luxury design is constantly changing, absorbing and corresponding with numerous global trends. In recent years, luxury design is deeply influenced by environmental sustainability, responsible material sourcing, and a deep connection to nature, which blend together to form an atmosphere that empowers personal and collective well-being. From today’s top boutique hotels to residential homes worldwide, the comfort and elegance associated with luxury radiates an aura of natural authenticity.

Established in 1987, Caesarstone has always embraced change. As a pioneer in the field of engineered stone, we helped create the quartz surface category that revolutionized the world of countertop design. Reflecting global-level consumer trend shifts, Caesarstone has gradually evolved from a company specializing in quartz surfaces to a multi-surface powerhouse. This evolution’s crowning achievement is Caesarstone ICON – our new advanced fusion surfaces that epitomize cutting-edge sustainability while exuding authentic splendor.

The sustainability ingredient

Even prior to 2025, architects and designers sought to incorporate sustainable materials and practices into homes and commercial spaces, preferring recycled materials with smaller carbon footprints over non-transparent alternatives. This preference stems from consumers themselves, who have gradually become more aware of environmentally-friendly options, as well as from shifting industry standards, which include initiatives such as Greenguard certifications, Declare Labels, and more.

In terms of sustainability, Caesarstone ICON’s unique material blend is truly groundbreaking. This did not happen by chance, as our materials team set out to develop surfaces for today’s era, which could prominently feature recycled materials without compromising key attributes such as surface hardness, durability and stain resistance. A thorough R&D process resulted in a patent-pending blend of ~80% recycled materials, which feature high-quality, post-industrial recycled glass alongside other innovative materials. In addition, the Caesarstone ICON blend is crystalline silica-free, resulting in surfaces that are safer for fabricators to work with when taking the necessary safety measures.

Staying true to surface nature

Once the Caesarstone ICON blend was ready for implementation, our design team was tasked with two goals. The first was transitioning Caesarstone’s existing quartz design portfolio to the new advanced fusion surface materials. The second goal, which was far more ambitious, was to create a new collection of surface colors specifically for Caesarstone ICON. This became known as the 2025 Collection.

Due to the high glass content integrated within Caesarstone’s advanced fusion surfaces, the design team decided to focus on two central motifs: transparency and layered aesthetics. This concept was the initial gateway for creating surfaces with added depth, dimensions and textures that resemble natural stone.

“Once we decided on a concept of transparency and multi-dimensional layers for the new collection, the next step was to find inspiration in nature’s materials and their unique transparencies”, says Mor Krisher, Caesarstone’s Head of Product Design. “After some exhilarating research, we headed back to our workshop and started creating. That’s when the magic began to happen.”

Caesarstone ICON’s material blend allowed the design team to stretch their limits in terms of colors and patterns. For the new collection, the team departed from the world of black, white and grey, selecting colors that aren’t often seen in the world of surface design, including prominent shades of green and orange.

Crafting unforgettable surfaces, the team’s inspiration ranged from white onyx and travertine limestone to Calacatta marble and oxidized patina. Moss and algae were also used as inspiration for a sage colored surface that blends ocean-themed naturalness with mature sophistication.

“In the end, we succeeded in achieving a degree of authenticity that both designers and consumers love”, explains Krisher. “We stayed true to our material’s characteristics, showing them for what they are, while adding creativity that takes its cue from nature.”

New representations of glamour

Exposing a design piece’s attributes for the world to see, including its “natural flaws”, is a recurring theme in today’s home design aesthetics. This relatively new tradition is rooted in various trends and movements, including biophilic design, which celebrates the blurred lines between indoors and outdoors and promotes the incorporation of natural elements and colors into the home environment. Japandi is yet another key influence, combining clean minimalism with an organic, sometimes earthy aesthetic. Wabi-Sabi, in particular, is becoming more and more popular due to its celebration of imperfect, unbalanced elements that represent authentic beauty.

In fact, this brand of authenticity transcends design. It can be found in a wide range of arts and cultural fields, from the growing popularity of film photography and its grainy and tainted compositions, to the tactility and scratchy sounds of vinyl records. The search for an authentic experience can be found everywhere – including farm-to-table movements and cooking that pays respect to local, sometimes overlooked heritages.

Caesarstone ICON and the 2025 Collection fit in perfectly in a world that celebrates the jagged and beautiful edges of nature, allowing architects and designers to bring bold ambitions to life through surfaces that embody the serenity and simplicity of nature. Creating a rich visual and tactile experience in residential spaces, Caesarstone ICON surfaces are a uniquely original representation of contemporary beauty, which strives not only to dazzle the senses but also to exude a calming energy that impacts its surroundings.
